Ritual rites of passage have existed across time, in various civilisations.
The rights of passage was an initiation.
It was THE MOMENT when we acknowledged that an individual, who had now come of age was:
– no longer a product of culture or circumstances
– ready to live unbound and unaffected by the limitations they had experienced until then.
These rituals don’t exist in our society anymore.
In fact, the opposite tends to take place.
As we come of age, and our sexuality awakens,
we learn shame, instead of power,
we adopt limited patterns rather than limitless possibility.
